Preparation of chloroformoxime
Chloroformoxime could be obtained from sodium fulminate and hydrochloric acid.
To a 1:1 diluted with water hydrochloric acid cooled to 0° C a cooled to 0° C solution of sodium fulminate is drop wise-added. The reaction product is immediately extracted three times with ether and distilled. The product is obtained in the form of crystalline needles, stable at 0° C but the aqueous solution decomposes in time. Chloroformoxime almost insoluble in petroleum ether, slightly soluble in carbon disulfide and easily soluble in other organic solvents and in water.
