Preparation of boron trifluoride dihydrate

One mole (67.8 g.) of boron trifluoride is absorbed by passing it into 2 moles (36 g.) of water. The product is distilled without decomposition at 1 mm. pressure, and boron trifluoride dihydrate is collected at 58.5-60°, m.p. 4.5-5°.
